Assistant Professor of Education

The Department of Education at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2025, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Students with Disabilities and Literacy Education, with preference given to those with a proven dedication to social justice and equity. Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or another immediately applicable discipline by the time of appointment, ABD candidates will be considered. Additionally, a minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience is required for this position. Specific teaching assignments will include sociological and philosophical foundations of teaching and learning, literacy education, and various students with disabilities courses, and possibly general education courses, including First Year Seminars.

Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Tenure-track faculty are expected to actively engage in scholarly or creative activities. Committee service, including campus wide and departmental governance, and academic advising are expected for re-appointment, tenure, and promotion.

Salary Range: $63,000-65,000 per year
