The Director, Health Informatics will drive our Organized Customer (Health System, Payor, etc.) strategy and execution of the Health Informatics/EHR approach. This individual will lead the development, deployment, and measurement of Health Informatics and Electronic Health Record (EHR) strategies and tactics designed to expand and improve Boehringer's Health Informatics approach, activity, and sales growth across a diverse product portfolio.
The incumbent will lead the alignment of the Health Informatics model to all brand leadership teams and customers utilizing current, established industry trends, evidence-based guidelines, key analytics, and insights as well as best practices to operationalize strategies and tactics and drive best practices across the Boehringer portfolio.
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of HIT, data science, and informatics. The ideal candidate needs to demonstrate an innovative mindset and be able to leverage their understanding of this function to design and pilot new market approaches to improve patient outcomes.
The Director, Health Informatics will support Boehringer net sales performance and profitability by leading the development, integration, and implementation of EHR resources to implementation across multiple healthcare delivery settings.
The position holder is responsible for leading the development, deployment, and measurement of health informatics/EHR processes such as Health Informatics/EHR governance, customer engagement model, EHR resource development/implementation, patient care workflow improvements, metrics and internal team education/training that will improve the quality and impact of the offerings delivered to customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Health Informatics Leadership:
Conceives, designs, and drives the Health Informatics approach within customers, ensuring alignment with brand/portfolio strategies.
Positions Health Informatics to align to customer strategies and overall business priorities for key segments and accounts.
Defines needs and develop processes and methods for creating tactics to drive account strategy.
Serves as the Boehringer subject matter expert and thought leader on internal and external best practices in the technology that supports population health management and those EHR functionalities that support HS business objectives that drive customer engagement.
Pro-actively pursues, identifies, evaluates, and implements emerging tools, technology, and business practices to meet customer needs.
Completes and maintains a landscape assessment focused on how HIT can be leveraged in patient care delivery and the solutions used in market to support (i.e., patient screening and identification tools, clinical decision support).
Works with external technology/implementation partners to identify, design, test, activate, and expand HIT solutions to close gaps in healthcare delivery, including improved product access for launch brands.
Works with internal and external technology partners to design, pilot, and scale solutions.
Develops a long-term roadmap outlining the HIT capabilities needed to support the future portfolio and evolving customer landscape.
Population Health/EHR Strategist:
Leads the development of the Health Informatics culture, structure, and processes to apply foundational and cutting-edge technology strategies and design methods in a sophisticated, consistent, and effective way.
Drives the innovative use of EHR functionalities to create exceptional experiences for Boehringer's accounts.
Leads the collaboration with customers to ensure accounts are approached with deep understanding of their specific challenges and uses this knowledge to design innovative internal capability building opportunities.
Leads the Value & Access organization in prioritizing, partnering, and executing EHR deliverables, aligned to brand/portfolio strategy. This includes the leadership of the development and deployment of the Health Informatics/EHR strategy.
Communications Leadership:
Architect of the Health Informatics/EHR communication strategy; ensures that the organization is operating and contributing at its highest level.
Liaises across Business Units for Health Informatics/EHR related issues to inform and provide insights.
Leads the development of field training material to ensure compliant use of HIT/EHR resources.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Policy & Management, Health Information Technology, or another related field; Masters in Health Informatics (MHI) or Health Policy & Management preferred (MPH).
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in healthcare (incl. patient care environment) industry with at least five (5) years in the pharmaceutical industry required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working on EHR platforms - expert level front-end knowledge required. Back-end experience a plus.
Minimum of five (5) years of team leadership/ supervisory experience required.
Proficient level knowledge of multiple EHR platforms preferred (i.e. Epic, Cerner, etc.)
Health Information Technology/EHR certifications a plus.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Experience leading successful health informatic integrations with 3rd party solution providers is desired.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage budget and resources.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed cross-functional organization.
Demonstrated ability to create strategic vision and measurement of team impact.
History of successful performance.
Ability to travel (may include overnight travel).
Eligibility Requirements :
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Assesses and deploys the appropriate measurement models for Boehringer and ensures that the final measurement plan is focused and actionable.
Legal and Regulatory HIT Compliance:
Assumes role of subject matter expert and thought leader on all legal and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures team has clear understanding of role and coach internal customers and field personnel to ensure compliance to all policies, and procedures related to Health IT / EHR engagements.
