RemX is seeking Field Service Technicians (Controls Specialty) to work on robotic welding equipment! Preferably based in the Chicago, IL area.

$40-$46 hourly BOE, 100% company paid medical (Emp.+ Dep), 50% company paid dental & vision (Emp. + Dep), company paid short term disability & life insurance, tuition reimbursement for employees, PTO (banked, not accrued- 2 weeks as a new hire), and reimbursements for travel paid out every paycheck (no lengthily waiting!) This role will require that candidates either reside full time in the Chicago, IL area or that they are able to reside in the area for the first 6 months of their employment- no relocation is provided at this time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Field Service Technician works to resolve problems with an emphasis on the controls side of the business. This can include design, checks, and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and water designs per assigned project. The objective is to resolve problems, share information with other team members and to make in-field design changes if required to improve equipment performance.

Essential Functions:
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, simple 2D layouts and other technical drawings.
  • Install \ replace control devices such as PCB’s, switches, relays, circuit-breakers.
  • Test continuity, voltage and current of circuits using various testing instruments.
  • Installation, preventative maintenance, customer support, and repair of customer equipment either in-house or at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • Frequent travel to customer sites & general business errands required- both domestic and international (passport required)
  • Work within flexible work/ travel schedule. Travel to customer sites on short notice.
  • Develop technical credibility & rapport with customer. Forward sales leads to appropriate manager.
  • Basic Robot Programming support during and after robot system installations.
  • Address customer concerns about their equipment and report such concerns and possible resolutions to management.
  • Customer training on how to correctly operate and maintain their equipment.
  • Backup all software, programming, or configuration changes made during the customer visits.
  • Calibration of robotic welding equipment either in-house or at customer facilities throughout North America.
  • In-house customer service support via text, telephone, e-mail etc.
  • Robotic System assembly and installation at customer facilities throughout North America.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years’ experience
  • Minimum of 1 year Robotics, PLC, hydraulics and pneumatics experience required.
  • Ability to be a team leader as required
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Read and understand schematics
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, electronic, etc prints and other related technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with voltmeter and other electrical types of measuring devices
  • Ability to write a detailed report of findings as needed
  • Must be able to load software on laptop then use software to diagnose faults, make changes, update tags, and PLC program as needed
  • Siemens S7 or TIA 2 years minimum
  • Willingness to learn about new hardware and software as needed
  • Overnight travel required
  • Passport, ability to obtain a passport required
